No tools needed in most cases. A wrench helps only if the filter is on tight.
- Unscrew your shower head from the filter, then the filter from the shower arm
- Remove the old cartridge and drop in the new one, mesh screen side up
- Screw the filter back on the arm, then your shower head onto the filter
- Run the water about 20 seconds to flush. Slight graying at first is normal

Refill Cartridge Questions
How often do I replace the cartridge?
Every 25,000 gallons or 12 months, whichever comes first. Once the media gets wet it has about a one year life, even with light use.
Will it fit my shower filter?
It fits the Destroyer shower filter in chrome, white and black. It does not fit the older shower filters we carried before late 2024.
Can I clean the cartridge instead of replacing it?
No. The media can't be cleaned. Swap in a fresh cartridge at least once a year.
Which way does the cartridge go in?
Mesh screen side up, toward the shower arm, and perforated side down. Putting it in backwards lowers performance.
Why is the water gray after a new cartridge?
A light gray tint for the first 20 seconds is normal. It's loose media flushing out, and the water runs clear after that.
Can I get refills on a schedule?
Yes. Choose the subscription option when you add it to your cart and a fresh cartridge ships automatically.
