In the meantime, if you need your black berkeys replaced, we reccomend the highly competent and original Berkey ceramic filters which have been improved in filtration quality since our last offering.

If you do not need fluoride removal, then you would choose the Ultra Sterasyl Ceramic Filters. 

If you need fluoride removal, and need to replace the black berkeys, then we would reccomend theAll in One Ultra Fluorde filter which is the same as the Ultra Sterasyl but with added fluoride removal capabilites.

Each durable and efficient Black Berkey element will last for up to 3,000 gallons before needing to be replaced. A pair of 2 Black Berkey elements lasts 6000 gallons before replacement is recommended, providing years of efficient water filtration.

For example, if you use 2 gallons of water daily, a set of Black Berkey filters would last over 8 years. If you use 4 gallons of water per day, Black Berkey filter replacements would not be required for over 4 years! Berkey water systems fitted with Black Berkey® elements can supply high-quality filtered water for just pennies per gallon.

So, there's no need for expensive disposable filters that require replacement every couple of months. Black Berkey elements are re-cleanable during their 6000-gallon lifetime. When the flow rate decreases simply brush the Black Berkey elements with a ScotchBrite pad under running water, reinstall and your system is again ready to purify water.

It is important to note that Black Berkey purification elements may require replacement sooner based on the quality of the influent water that you filter through your system. If you are filtering rainwater through your Berkey gravity-fed water filter, your filter elements will last much longer than if you are filtering dirty, sild-laden source water, for example.

Note: Black Berkey elements are upper chamber elements. They do not work simultaneously with upper chamber Ceramic Super Sterasyl elements. Only one technology is designed to operate in the upper chamber at a time. These filters will work in the British Berkefeld systems and most other gravity water filter systems on the market. They can also be chosen as an upgraded filter to replace the older white ceramic filters.

BOOST PROTECTION BY ADDING FLUORIDE AND ARSENIC REDUCTION ELEMENTS

If you are concerned about fluoride and arsenic levels in your drinking water, you can add a set of Berkey PF-2 fluoride and arsenic reduction filters to the lower chamber of your Berkey water filtration system in compatible models. The arsenic and fluoride filter comes in a set of two and is designed to work in conjunction with a set of 2 Black Berkey filters and is screwed into the base of the Black Berkey elements in the lower chamber of the Berkey gravity water filter. It is specifically designed to target arsenic and fluoride found in tap water.

Because the Travel Berkey, Big Berkey, Royal Berkey gravity-fed water filter (or any of our other Berkey countertop water filter systems) fitted with authentic Black Berkey elements BB9-2 filters will provide clean water for years before the filters will need to be replaced, it means less waste is sent to the landfill.

The re-cleanable Berkey elements can be reused over and over before they will need to be discarded and new Berkey replacement filters installed in their place. A FOOD COLORING TEST WILL CONFIRM YOUR BLACK BERKEY FILTERS ARE FILTERING PROPERLY

To ensure your filters are operating to design specifications, a Berkey owner can perform a red food coloring test on their Black Berkey filters at any time. This is because the Black Berkey elements are so powerful, that they can remove food coloring from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs. Make sure you only ever purchase and install authentic Black Berkey elements in your Berkey gravity-fed stainless steel countertop water filter or Berkey light water system. Berkey authentic Black Berkey elements are the gold standard in gravity-fed water filter elements on the market, and although they are compatible with other gravity-fed water filters, installing a replacement filter from other manufacturers into your Berkey gravity fed water filter is likely to result in inferior quality water.

Berkey Warranty

Black Berkey purification elements have a 2-year prorated warranty calculated in 6-month intervals. The manufacturer will replace or repair any product that it deems is not properly functioning during the stated warranty period.

Note: Some Black Berkey filters may come with a small dimple or chip off the top filter.  This does not affect the performance, filtration efficiency, or life of the filter in any way.  As a result, it would not be covered under the warranty as it is not considered defective.  This can be verified by performing a red food coloring test on the filters to test them.
